What Methods Will the Locksmith Use to Fix The Lock?

When you have a broken lock, the last thing you want is to have your property invaded or stolen. That’s why it’s important to call a locksmith who can fix your lock quickly and efficiently. But what methods will the locksmith use to fix the lock?

Locksmith Use to Fix The Lock

The most common method used by locksmiths is rekeying. This is a process where the pins and tumblers inside of the lock are replaced so that it no longer works with the old key. Rekeying is faster and cheaper than replacing the entire lock. However, it also means that everyone who previously had access to your property can still get in using their original key.

Replacing the Lock

Another possible solution is to replace the entire lock. This involves removing the old lock and installing a new one. The advantages here are that you can choose a new model or type of lock, and that no one with an existing key will be able to get in. The downside is that replacing locks can be time-consuming and expensive.

Finally, some locksmiths may offer a service called “pinning.” This involves adding layer of security to the lock by putting pins in the cylinder that can only be opened with a unique key. Pinning is especially useful for high-security locks and can give you peace of mind against potential break-ins or theft.

When choosing a locksmith to fix your lock, discussing the various methods and deciding which one is right for you is important. Rekeying might be more cost-effective if you want to keep using the same lock, while replacing the entire lock may be necessary sometimes. Pinning can add an extra layer of security, making it even more difficult for intruders to access your property.

No matter how you fix your lock, trust a qualified locksmith with the job. They will be able to help you determine the best solution and ensure that your property is safe and secure.
